Alex was selected as a fellow for the Spark Animation Fellowship 2024-25, presented by the Latino Film Institute and sponsored by the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity. The fellowship awarded a $25k grant to produce Alex's animated short film, The Apricot.
The Apricot premiered at the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival in 2025. It continues to screen in festivals around the world.
The short won Best Animated Short Film at the New York International Film Festival (Oscar-qualifying), Best Animated Short for Kids at the Portland Festival of Cinema, Animation & Technology, and HONORABLE MENTION for Best Animated Short at the Cleveland International Film Festival.
